The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. It's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere.

October 16Topic: Regression, Dissociation and Fixation

Topic: Regression, Dissociation and Fixation Description. At this session, we will explore two key processes: regression and dissociation. How does Transactional Analysis explain these phenomena? These are two different responses to high-stress situations. What does a person do when regressing? How do they function when dissociating, both during the event and afterward? We will also discuss the concept of fixation points and the schizoid process. When traumatized, a person may split off the event and store it unprocessed—as a fixation point. We will explain what this means in detail during the webinar. Fixation points can be verbal or nonverbal. Memories before the age of three are stored without language, so they are called nonverbal fixations. Working with clients with pre-three-year fixations involves a so‑called “pre-verbal client” who requires a different therapeutic approach than those whose trauma occurred later in life.

REDECISION THERAPY TODAY: A Redecision Relational Approach to Transactional Analysis

This book is a discussion about the psychotherapy approach known as transactional analysis, originally developed by Eric Berne in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It has survived until this time which is about sixty years which is quite an achievement. There are not many other psychotherapy approaches that can claim this especially as this approach is not just practiced by a few odd people around the world but has a large number of people still working with it all over the world.
